Waiting Period After Radioactive Iodine Administration
After taking the radioactive iodine, there will be a waiting period of 24-48 hours to allow time for the iodine to be absorbed. During this time, you are encouraged to drink plenty of water to help with the distribution and clearance of iodine.
Initial Scan
After the waiting period, you will return to the imaging center for the scan. And in some cases, there’ll be waiting period depending on the calibrator, after the waiting period there’ll be a scan of approximately 30 minutes.
Radiation Precautions
Depending on the dose of radioactive iodine used, you may be advised to follow certain radiation precautions after the procedure to limit exposure to others. Our staff will provide you with specific guidelines if this is necessary.
Report Collection
A soft copy of the scan reports will be sent to you via WhatsApp or email within 3-5 hours. The hard copy of the reports can be collected from the center at your convenience.
