How to prepare for an MDP scan?
Hydration:
Ensure you are well-hydrated before and during the examination. Drink at least two 8-ounce glasses of water between the time of radiopharmaceutical injection and delayed imaging.
Continue drinking fluids and void frequently for at least 24 hours after the injection to promote excretion and minimize radiation exposure.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or suspect you might be or are breastfeeding, inform your doctor and the technologist before the procedure. Although adverse effects are rare, precautions are necessary. Breastfeeding women may need to pause breastfeeding for 4-24 hours, depending on the radiopharmaceutical used.
Medications and Medical History:
Continue taking your medications as usual unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Inform your doctor and technologist about any medications you are taking, including any that may interfere with bone scintigraphy. Special Precautions:
