MILK SCAN
A Milk Scan or Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER) Scan is a nuclear medicine test used to evaluate gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and gastric emptying in infants and children. It involves feeding the patient a small amount of milk or formula mixed with a radioactive tracer, which is then tracked using a gamma camera. This scan helps assess reflux severity, detect aspiration risks, and determine gastric motility issues. It is a safe, non-invasive procedure that provides valuable insights for diagnosing digestive disorders.
