DOTA/PSMA/FAPI PET CT SCANS
Scan Procedure
- Schedule your appointment one day in advance.
- If your appointment was scheduled several days in advance, please confirm it with us one day before the scan.
- On the day of your appointment, proceed to the floor where your scan is scheduled
- At reception, your name, age, gender, referring doctor, and medical history will be recorded.
- A KNM ID will be assigned to you for identification throughout the process.
- A cannula will be inserted by the nursing staff.
- There will be a waiting period of 30 minutes to 1 hour, to prepare the drug, before injecting. In some cases, there may be no waiting period.
- Once the drug is prepared and incubated, it will be injected.
- You will need to wait for 45 minutes to 1 hour (25-30 mins for FAPI Scan) to allow the drug to spread throughout your body.
- After the waiting period, you will be taken for the scan, which will last approximately 15-25 minutes
- The doctor will review the initial scan images
- If necessary, a delayed scan will be scheduled based on your specific case.
- The timing for a delayed scan may range from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on individual circumstances
- A soft copy of your scan report will be sent to you via WhatsApp or email within 2.5 to 5 hours.
- If there is a high patient load or if the report requires consultation with the referring doctor, the report delivery time may vary.
- The hard copy of the report will be ready at the same time as the soft copy. You may collect it from the centre at your convenience, either at the time the soft copy is ready or at a later time that suits you.

Preparation For DOTA/PSMA/FAPI PETCT
Fasting
You should fast for at least 2-3 hours before the scan. Only water is allowed during this period. This helps to ensure accurate imaging results by reducing glucose levels in your body, which could otherwise interfere with the uptake of the radiotracer.
Hydration
It's important to stay well-hydrated. Drink plenty of water before the scan to help the radiotracer distribute evenly in your body and to facilitate its elimination afterward.
Medication
If you are taking medications that affect blood sugar levels, consult with your healthcare provider about specific instructions.
Creatinine Levels
A creatinine test must be performed within 2-3 months before the FDG PET scan. If the test was done over 3 months ago, it should be repeated to ensure levels are within the normal range (0.8-1.2/1.4 mg/dL). If necessary, we can perform this test at our center, though it may delay the scan.
